Green Work - Scarifying day 2
South Cliff Bowling Club Scarborough
The early session of the fourth scarify saw six volunteers - with an average age just shy of 80 - working alongside the scarifier, Bernard. There were two on the lawnmowers gathering the wet material, two on the wheelbarrows taking it to the skip, one compressing the grass in the skip and one sweeping.
Following a well-deserved cuppa we were joined by four other volunteers and the task of the gathering up the debris moved on at pace. A welcome lunch of butties - bacon, ham, and cheese - courtesy of Mary, fuelled all for the final push. The work was completed around 2pm leaving Bernard to sow the grass seed. The rain then followed!
The focus now shifts to complete the filling of the skip with branches etc from the surrounding garden area.
