Critical match for Vets 1

On a hot sunny afternoon, Vets 2 played hosts to Vets 1 in a rearranged fixture. Vets 1, pushing for promotion back to League 1, faced Vets 2, endeavouring to increase the gap between them and the bottom club in League 2. The match was not going to be one where the second team rolls over in favour of the 1st team.

Approaching the halfway point the situation was very even with Vets 2 up 13-2 on one rink, tying 8-8 on a second rink and down 3-11 on the third rink. With one rink to play things were moving in favour of Vets 1, 13-2 had become 16-18, 8-8 saw Vets 1 a shot ahead 13-14 and 3-11 was finely poised at 18-18.

On to the last end, Vets 2 went down 16-22, 13-15 and 18-19 with an aggregates score of 47-56 in favour of Vets 1 giving them 8 points to Vets 2 - 0. Vets 1 move closer to promotion.

Vets 2 had fought hard, they deserved more given how closely fought the match was. They responded to the challenge and produced some excellent bowling. With 3 matches to go we hope they will respond positively in their next fixture and wish Vets 1 every success in their quest for promotion.
