The Season Starts!

After a very wet close season, it was possible to undertake a light scarify and cut the day before the green opened. It was with some trepidation that we laid up the green, given the weather forecast for the afternoon was not that sympathetic and there was a stiff breeze. Nevertheless, some 26 members took part in a Triples Jumble, with each ‘match’ lasting 30 minutes before changing opponents. After a break for tea, coffee and home made cakes team changes occurred to accommodate those who had not played a further round of matches took place. At the end of the opening day two triples came out on top - Bill, John H & Rosie; Wendy, Colin & Elizabeth.

All enjoyed the opportunity to get back on the green and were pleased that the green was not too heavy. Monday sees the start of the Open League practice sessions with League matches starting in The Vets and Aussie Pairs the following week.

During the afternoon, three more joined as Social members and this takes the membership to 62. An excellent number for the start of the season and vindicates the decision to have two teams in each of the three Leagues. The Club competitions lists are beginning to fill up and we hope to run an intra Club league on a Friday afternoon.
