On a pleasant day, 20 teams - each of three bowlers - enjoyed a day of competitive bowling against the clock. The matches included teams from Burniston, Scalby, Seamer, Filey, Thornton Dale, York, South Cliff and beyond. All teams played four matches, each one lasting 45 minutes, the opponents being drawn at random.

The players and a good number of spectators were sustained throughout the day by light refreshments including the much sought after bacon baps. Many thanks to Wendy S and James supported by members of the Club who made items of food and helped out during the day.

A big thank you to Joyce for scoring, Bill for the raffle & till and Pauline T who organised the event. Also a big thank you to Derek Gi, Pauline V and Mel H who stepped in at the last minute following the non-appearance of one team.

At the half way point, ahead of lunch, a Spider event was held. Dave Bond won and was rewarded with a bottle of Whisky. In the Whistlestop with two teams equal on maximum points - 8 the winners were decided on the points scored. Team Jim Dawson had a shots ‘for’ of 48 with Team Pat Lawry in second place with 37 shots. The winners received £75 and second place £25.

This had been an excellent day of bowling and over £600 was raised for Club funds.
