Club Mixed Triples

6 sets of triples, teams chosen at random, took to the green to fight for a place in the afternoon’s semi-finals. One set had a bye to the semis.

Heather, Danny & Peter had a convincing 27-9 win over Tristan, Pauline T &Bill. The other two matches were closely fought. Tony R, Julia and Phil took an early lead but Jan, Ken & Vernon fought back to within three shots before Phil’s team regained the momentum to win 16-8. The final match was close for 10 ends before Gillian, Pam & John H crept away to lead by 5 after 12 ends. Pauline V, Pauline.C & Tony M pulled back to be 2 behind after the two hours were up with John H, Pam & Gillian winning 14-12.

On to the afternoon session. Two very well fought matches. Wendy, Derek G & Tom fought a titanic battle against Tony R, Julia & Phil. After the 2 hours it stood at 14-14. Time for an extra end. Tony, Julia and Phil reached the final by 1 shot. Their opponents will be Gill, Pam & John H who also had an epic battle. They were 5 shots up after 10 ends but in the last 5 ends they picked up one shot to Heather, Danny & Peter’s 5. After the 2 hours the one shot was sufficient and they reached the final 11-10.

We await tomorrow’s final. Will McDonald and Julia H add the triples to their recent mixed pairs? Will John H get revenge and have the bragging rights in the Horton household? Find out tomorrow from 2:00pm!
