The Club hosted, as a neutral venue, the quarter-final of the Men’s Marshall Shield, organised by Yorkshire Bowling Association, featuring Hornsea BC playing Middlesbrough BC. 3 rinks of 4 players a side with 2 woods each contested 18 ends. The result being determined by the numbers of shots scored. At the half way stage it was very close with 3 shots separating the teams. In. The second 9 Middlesbrough began to pull away running out winners by 50 shots to 34. The spectators enjoyed watching an excellent standard of bowling and the Club received some very positive comments on the state of the green despite the lack of rainfall for much of the season.
