Unusually, we had super weather for the Opening Day - sunny and warm! Some 32 members - a record for the first day of the season turned up to play, plus spectators and a potential new member who had his first bowl on the green with one of our most experienced bowlers, who gave him some good advice and guidance.

The initial plan was to play a Jumble of triples - on the basis of past experience - but in view of the numbers we played teams of 4. Three sessions of 30 minutes each were organised and at the end of session 2 we had a deserved break for tea/.coffee, biscuits & cake before completing the afternoon’s bowling.

The points scored were tallied for each team and the team skipped by James, aided by Sue, Gillian, & John S ran out winners, the wooden spoon went to Rosie, Pauline V, Tony & Derek.

All agreed that it had been an excellent start to the season and we hope the weather stays good for the team practices which start next week and will involve a significant number of our 60 plus members. The League matches start with the Vets - 22nd April.
